Jaime over at Hands On as We Grow has compiled a list of over 30 activities that can help young hands develop fine motor skills. Many of these activities use common household items and can be done for a few minutes each day to help develop dexterity.
SimplyFun has an adorable game that also works on fine motor skills called Share A Berry. In this game each player gets a basket to collect their strawberries and a string to put them on. Each player turns over a card in front of them and takes that many berries from the main basket and strings them on their string (fine motor practice). After four turns of adding berries, there are two turns of “sharing” berries. Each player must remove the number of berries on the card and give them to the person to their right/left…which ever way the bear is facing. Then after all the cards are turned over, everyone compares their strings to see who has the most and is therefore the winner! This cute game is perfect for preschoolers! It helps them with some early counting skills, teaches them to share and works on fine motor skills.
